The new puppy is into shoe chewing phase… my got sneaks – blue Amazon Basics Van’s knockoffs – are the latest victims. So I needed some new sneaks. Cheap ones.
The Amazon Basics were stiff and a bit uncomfortable, but cheap, so I didn’t have high expectations for $21 shoes… the Lugz arrived, and they look better than expected. The gum is well glued to the shoe, looks like it will hold (we’ll see…); the canvas is heavy & solid. Pretty good shoes.
Put them on, they fit as expected.
They’re new, and still a bit stiff, but not uncomfortable. I wore them all day y’day, no discomfort. With the Amazon basics Van’s-like shoes, I had to loosen them up over several weeks before they stopped pinching.
SO – Lugz… good, straight-forward, basic, low-price sneaker; but, BETTER than other cheap sneakers. Better comfort than Amazon basic or Wallymart cheapies.
These were marked down significantly when I ordered them, so they were $21 instead of about $30.
At this price point, definitely recommended.

Sneakers are comfortable, made of good material and fashionable. I will probably buy again. The only observation I have is that they feel a little bigger than 10.5 wide.

Shoes look good, seem to be good quality, fit true to size and are comfortable. Color is nice, I didn’t care for the darker laces so used the lighter set. Easily see me getting my money’s worth out of these.

Exactly as pictured. They are very comfortable and sturdy.

These shoes actually kinda slap. I bought them cause my normal Vans were too destroyed for a cosplay, so I bought these as a cheap alternative. Way more comfy than I expected. Fit decently well. Also telling people to “Check out my Lugs” is one of my new favourite statements.

I rarely even attempt a pair of sneakers – styles are usually just ridiculous looking and they always dig into my Achilles tendon. Not these though. These are the first pair of plain ol’ canvas sneaks I’ve had since I was a kid, back when Keds were the only sneaks in town. The padded removable insole is comfy and a nice added touch, so I don’t have to buy Dr Scholl’s like I usually do. They’re very light and look great. Biggest attraction for me was that they come in wide sizes.
I can’t just slip em on like my boat shoes but that’s ok – if you can slip em on they can slip off, and I needed something that stays on better when I’m riding my motorcycle. No substitute for riding boots but I just can’t wear those cuz for me they cause more problems than they solve…
* Slight revision, two years and two months after I got these: those comfy removable insoles do not last very long. The fabric covering the top of them doesn’t stay attached over time, particularly at the heel. The glue they use for that doesn’t stand up to sweat + activity very well I guess, so, yeah. Had to buy those “aftermarket” insoles anyway a year after I got em. I certainly don’t consider this a deal breaker, though – every other pair of shoes I ever bought in my life, I had to get insoles for them.
Bottom line 2+ years later: I *still* love these sneaks, and they’ve held up quite well. I don’t even wear those “boat shoes” anymore. House mocs at home, these everywhere else. 👍🏼

Both shoes split. Just like shown in other reviews. Very poor quality.

They looked too big coming out of the box. They included an extra pair of shoestrings! The shoes are plain and simple, comparable to other brands offering the same type of footwear, but for about half the cost. They still look better than anything else offered, and that’s why I bought them!
I put them on and was prepared for the usual break-in, but they were comfortable walking and running shoes from the start, and the act of walking gave each shoe the correct shape that diminished the “bigness.” The extra width of these shoes isn’t an issue, no looseness but just a better fit.
-But the long-term nature of shoes is how they take the daily wearings and “keep on keeping-on,” so I couldn’t write about that for a few months- past the scope of this review.

As far as I can tell these are the same shoes as the Nike SB chron 2 just without the swoosh. Comfortable and fit really well.
Sylwia –
Its fits in my foot properly

I’ve already ordered 2 pairs of these. They remind me of my Vans, but are a third of the price. Very pleased and will continue to replace with this brand going forward.

LUGZ have been my new favourite source for casual shoes now for three years. They don’t last quite as long as my old Etnies, but just as comfortable and stylish.
I love these new ones and they look and feel great.
In Lugz I Trust.
End of Communication.

UPDATE:
Even though I gave these shoes a previous 5 star review (see below), I had a chance to wear them for a time yesterday. The sides of these shoes are very flimsy and gave me no support, The tongue of the shoe is also very flimsy and folded up on the top of my foot when I tied the shoes. The bottom of the shoes are great, but I’m not sure I would recommend this specific type of shoe from LUGZ. I’m truly very disappointed, because they really look great on my feet, but just don’t have enough foot support for me.
Original Review: Seemed to be a little large for the size I ordered, but I like the design very much.
