These shoes offer exceptional comfort and support, making them ideal for serious runners like myself.

The Gel-Kayano 29 provides excellent cushioning, absorbing the impact of each stride and reducing fatigue during long runs. The combination of Gel technology and responsive foam in the midsole delivers a plush and supportive feel underfoot.

One standout feature is the stability these shoes offer. The Dynamic DuoMax support system and Trusstic technology help maintain proper foot alignment, which is crucial for injury prevention. I’ve noticed a significant reduction in discomfort and strain in my ankles and knees since switching to these shoes.

The upper is breathable and snug, providing a secure fit without feeling too tight. It’s also worth noting that the shoe’s durability is impressive; it’s held up well after several months of regular use.

In summary, the ASICS Gel-Kayano 29 is a top-notch running shoe that combines comfort, support, and durability. It’s an investment that’s well worth it for serious runners looking to enhance their performance and protect their joints.

I am a big fan of these shoes! They provide the right amount of stability and cushion for my feet, despite my poor running form.

Had these a few months and ran maybe 60-80 miles in them sofar. Been using gel-kayano series since their 21 model which changed my life (bad knees, could run on pavement for the first time with those). These feel similar enough, stable and all but my knees are not happy. On the one hand I only have pavement available where I live now which isn’t great for my knees, but i can’t help but feel something is different in how they ‘make you’ plant your feet. I still had my old worn out model and i switched back to those for a few weeks, but it didn’t really help my knees, so for now i’m not blaming the shoes.

they look great, arrived nice and unused. i’m giving them 4* for 1 specific reason:

Please note: this one color only does not have the extra hole to tie the runner’s loop. I didn’t see that and i’m very flat footed (if i walk with wet feet my prints resembles those of a duck lol). I didn’t notice that, and had to make some annoying compromises for it with how i tie my shoes. So if you need that extra hole for your laces, get another color!

Also i should add that they have now conformed to a more standardized size. In these shoes i’m using 10, same as i do in converse or vans or motorcycle boots or pretty much anything. In all my older gel-kayano models i had to use 10.5-11. This is more a pro than a con in my book though.

These were a little cheaper than what I normally spend, but they look really nice and they’re still pretty comfortable. I’d buy them again.

When I discovered Hoka shoes, I thought I was set. What was this cushioned, comfortable stride? What clouded, bouyant vistas have I begun to tread? Alas, my comfort journey was cut short because the Hokas, much as I loved them, don’t hold up. The tread wore away on multiple pairs in under a year, just from walking 2-3 miles per day. No bueno.

Then I discovered the ASICS Gel-Kayanos. The comfort level is similar to the Hoka’s, but they are far more durable. It’s been over a year, and I’m still on my first pair. I immediately notice the difference when I put on something else. Case in point, I tried on a pair of “memory foam” slip-ons in Costco the other day, and…. well, ugh. All I could feel were the seams where the sole met the sides.

I knocked a point off for support because the shoes could do a little more to prevent lateral motion- i’m sure it’s hard for ASICS (any other shoe maker) to find a balance between the height added by the comfort soles and lateral stability. It wasn’t enough to keep my from buying a second pair.

First off – yes, they run AT LEAST a half-size small. Go up, especially if you have duck paddles (very wide) for feet as I do. You’re going to need the room.

By comparison, I have been in the New Balance 1080 series for a million years, and their newest 10 4E (as of 2022) fits about the same as these Asics in the 11 4E. The NB shoes are great – and probably the most “4E” of 4E shoes – but over the years their premier 1080 line has, in my opinion, sacrificed substantive lateral foot and heel lineup support on the altar of waif-like lightness.

I’m at the point as an active exercise walker where I need proper support just as much as I need cushion. Also – by the by, I have been using the Superfeet Copper replacement inserts found here on Amazon. They’re in the vein of “over-the-counter custom orthotics” and not the cheapest thing you’ll ever buy, but if you need them for support, you need them for support. Let the shoes themselves provide the cushioning. These Asics shoes out of the box are supportive and the cushioning is good. The Superfeet insoles slid right in as replacements for the factory set for that dash extra of reliable support and foot lineup.

One more note ~ the Hoka Bondi 8s are comparable to the New Balance 1080s and these Asics 29s, but if you have wide feet, forget it. Their “extra wide” is a 2E *at best*. The shoe soles themselves are wide as moon boots, and probably give great support, but the uppers are strictly for narrow feet. Epic fail on Hoka’s end. Don’t believe me – read the reviews. They were slammed so much on their site that *cough* I don’t see reviews any more. Maybe I missed them on a recent visit?

Fit-wise for my fellow ducks I’d say the 4E NB 1080s are best, flowed closely by these Asics 29s. Hokas … damn they were cushiony … are not for wide feet, period, unless maybe you get 2 sizes too big. Even then … 🤔

But overall I’m going these Asics 29s for support AND cushioning AND width. 🏆 As of this writing the 30s are indeed available, but at about $60 more per pair. The new-to-me 29s got great reviews, so I thought I’d start with them.

I bought these in Feb.2024. In August the padding behind the black lining stated to let go. I assume the adhesive let go, and it feels like my sock is always falling down. Anyway I only walk in these shoes, and have taken good care of them as they are very expensive for my wallet. I contacted Asics but Asics would not warranty them and gave me a long list of squinty print to cover themselves. If your a runner I would wonder how they would hold up?

Very cushiony, good fit. I’ve tried Brooks and this shoe has been the best support so far for the recurring soreness in my heels.
