The scent does attract fruit flies ,but attracting them to the little apple doesn’t kill the fruit flies.
Some fruit flies sit on the top of the apple. Others enter the holes- then come back out.
Terro doesn’t provide sufficient solution to near the top of the apple, which gives fruit flies plenty of time to change their minds and fly back out.
To top it off ,the solution EVAPORATES. I discovered that I have a whole bunch of EMPTY Terro apples.
The fruit fly traps are advertised as lasting for 90 days, but they don’t.
A Terro customer service representative told me that 90 days means 45 days -per trap !
She said that “90 days” means 90 days only if customers use only ONE trap, and re-fill the one apple
after it evaporates after 45 days (or less, in my experience).
Advertising 90 day effectiveness of a product that last 45 days constitutes False and Misleading Advertising.
Terro refuses to send me lure or additional apples with fruit fly “lure” to replace the ones which were advertised as lasting for 90 days, but which Terro knows evaporate in 45 days (or less.)
I’ve spent a good deal of money on Terro fruit fly traps- because they USED to trap fruitflies- and I’ve been desperate.
These traps probably cost Terro 25 cents a piece, but Terro won’t sent me any lure to replace the lure that evaporated.
I’m going to mix up apple cider vinegar with sugar and put that in the Terro apples. The fruit flies do seem to be intrigued by the apples. and a few have drowned .
Save your money and buy Apple Cider Vinegar & sugar.
I read that one should put clear tape over drains in order to identify the source . IF there are flies stuck to the underside, the “fruit flies” are drain flies, and the best way to get rid of them is to clear out the drains.
Good Luck with your fruit flies .

Update: the liquid dried up/evaporated after only 6-7 days, after less than a couple of weeks when I couldn’t find refill, I reached out to manufacturer, never received a response. I didn’t care if they lasted the full time promised, but a week is ridiculous and very disappointing manufacturer didn’t respond.
Original review: We had suddenly been having a problem with fruit flies. Could not figure out what was attracting them, we never saw multiple flies in any specific place (drain, fruit, etc) just a random fruit fly here in there. I had tried everything under the sun for about three weeks, safe for pet insecticides, home remedies with vinegar and dish soap, you name it I tried it. I had placed my banana tree and my fruit bowl (that I’ve had on my counter for years) in my refrigerator, still no relief. I saw these, they have pretty good reviews so I thought what the heck will give it a try. I am so glad I did! I have had them sitting on my counter for only 3 days, complete game changer! I got up the first morning after placing them the day before not one fruit fly in sight. I thought it was too good to be true, but now I’m through my third day and have not seen a single fruit fly. this is after I have gone for pushing a month of killing or being aggravated by fruit flies, 3 to 5 of them a day and now there are none, zero! These are amazing, I don’t know how long it will last; whether or not be the full timetable promised, but I don’t care, I will replace them in two weeks if I have to. They work that well.
The second morning I woke up to no fruit flies, I put my banana tree and fruit back on the counter, it’s been 48 hours and still no fruit flies. I love these!!

Extremely disappointed. I have had 2 of them on the counter for two weeks. I caught 1 (ONE) fruit fly. The rest of the annoying bugs are circling around my bananas or any other food I have out. I even put one of the “red apples” right by the bananas without catching ONE FLY. A total waste of money.
CORRECTION CORRECTION. After I wrote my review I forgot to throw away this product. A few day went buy and when I went to throw it out I took a look inside & saw about 15 fruit flies. I look at the other one & that one also had quite a few of the bugs. It works and I plan to get a refill . Sorry I prejudged this product without giving it a chance. Please accept my apology.

Works great but took a day or two for the fruit flies to go in it. Easy to open and clean. Safety get rid of fruit flies with no mess. Value not too bad for the money. Easy to use.

It doesn’t really work on flies

These do work well by themselves, but they work extremely well when paired with another trap. For example, if you use a sticky trap next to one of these traps, it works extremely well. I always have some of these in my house now, just in case. Highly recommend using them, especially in the summer

These traps work somewhat. They are better than nothing but not highly effective. They are too light weight and tip over easily if bumped spilling the liquid inside thus making them ineffective. There are better products out there.

This product seemed to work well enough. It only actually captured about 18 fruit flies. It is really easy to accidentally knock over. Especially if you’re an amputee and disabled. Definitely more expensive on Amazon than in a Home Depot store. Amazon is ridiculous and their customer service employees have no regard or respect for disabled people who spend their money with them.

Please don’t purchase this product. Simply waste of money. I have not opened the seal then also they r not arranging for pick up.
Esinakbdk –
Works as intended just make sure you purchase more solution as it lasts as long as advertised and you’ll be sorry once it’s gone & the fruit flies return.

This is super simple to set up and is pathetically pleasing for a fly trap. It’s great quality and easy to clean. I’ve never found a fruit fly catcher that works as quickly as this one. If we have an infestation break out from a banana left out, this clears it right up. The video might be gross, but it shows how effective and how quick it catches flies. Worth the money!

Tiene un lÃquido que huele en tu casa… en el tiempo en que se uso solo murió una mosquita y deja apestando la casa

So we had these tiny fruit flies hovering in the kitchen and did all sorts of things, but never got rid of them. Then my son bought this and set them up – and in a week or so, the flies were gone! It really does work. I was surprised and impressed and then went to buy some for my mother’s kitchen…
