I’ve been wearing these shoes for years. The first time I’ve tried them, i got hooked by how comfortable they are. i have no issue wearing them all day. They are great. They generally last for a little over 6 months. But these are very hard months. I work in a heavy duty diesel repair shop, and these guys take a lot of abuse. I’ve been through about 4 pairs of these shoes.
The soles are strong. Generally i don’t replace my shoes because the soles are worn, except for one pair at around the year mark. that’s not bad.
The inside cushion is awesome. This tends to wear out about 6months in. Either the top layer comes off, or the foam is not longer returning to original shape.
The ankle cushion also wears at about the 6 month mark. This is generally what causes me to replace my shoes. The shaper for the ankle cushion, in the back is hard, and once the cushion wears, it does dig into the back of my foot a little bit.
When you get them on sale for 40+ bucks, that’s the best. i try not to buy them at their regular price of over $60. I wish they had these exact shoes with a slightly higher profile around the ankle. I don’t like the full ankle support ones. but these offer no ankle protection at all. Wish there was middle ground.
Either way the only shoes i wear at work,

I bought my first pair of these from a local work n gear in 2018 for roof top sole work. Used them for a month or two before storing them in my closet. Went to use them this past fall and after a day of work the soles were coming off them. Granted due to age I assume the glue just got dry but considering the low amount of use prior I was concerned. However they fit me well, have good sticky grip for roof work and are safety shoes at a decent price so I bought another pair recently as I could order them while in lunch break and didn’t need to go try them on.

Honestly even if they last for 6 months they are way cheaper to buy 2-3 pairs of than me buying a new pair of thorogood 8″ wedges once a year.

And for commercial electrical work, outside of working in a ditch, the sneaker like comfort is a plus.

They don’t dry quickly however and the memory foam insole gets beat up and stays damper than I like from sweat imho. But new insoles from any pharmacy or Amazon fix that.

Now that I’ve had these for a month now, and wear them 12 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week, I feel confident they’ve had time to break in. Initially, they were a little stiff. I expected them to be a little tight, so I ordered half a size larger than regular sneakers, but I realized that appears unnecessary as there is plenty of room in the toe.

After a couple of days I started to feel a seam in the liner that was bothering me across my little toe, and I was not wearing these every day yet, but I decided to press on to see if they broke in by wearing them daily and eventually I forgot about it. When I remembered I realized they were no longer bothering me. That was about a week. I’ve now worn them four weeks.

I spray them with Tinactin deodorant after every use, because my foot gets fairly wet with sweat after 12 hours and I’ve previously had trouble with athletes foot. I know fungus can build up in shoes worn too often, and this can not only cause athletes foot, but also break down the material in the shoe itself. The shoe needs to dry out between uses.

Also worth noting, the memory foam insole is comfortable, but not my preference. It is not however, removable, and there is insufficient space to double-up insoles. I have run in these a fair distance and short jaunts, and kicks, and side-stepping and have never felt the steel toe. The sole is stiff and squeaks on some surfaces, and walking through puddles causes no leaks. The top is tuff also, minor scrapes cause no damage. Of course YMMV, I wear these in a warehouse only and change in the car. They are a little dusty from the black dust in the warehouse, but no dirt or mud. Mud and salts can dry the material and cause cracking and rotting. How some have reported such damage so quickly I cannot say, but these appear to hold up very well for my usage, although I do believe the insole will be the first to go. Which is why I don’t like memory foam for insoles. They are great for comfort for a large variety of foot shapes, but they are not as durable as a specific-shaped insoles. I plan on getting a black pair to alternate with these.

The only desires I have in these is a composite toe that doesn’t set off a metal detector, and a lower price. I ordered the beige style that is somehow twice the price of the black style. I don’t know the difference as to why. $50 is outstanding, $90 is worth it, but why pay more?

    Update 6/14/24
After about six months the insoles finally crapped out. When I finally got around to ripping them out they came out easily, I guess the glue broke down over time. Now with new insoles they are fully functional again and the outer is still in good condition, see image.

I’ve bought a few pair of these for my son over the last several years, as he works in construction. He likes them a lot…style, comfort, protection. Got them on sale this time for a great price.
